GNU SLOWS DOWN PARLIAMENT (and national government, to a certain extent)

For those of us monitoring South Africa's Parliament and national departments, ever since the formation of a ‘Government of National Unity’ things have slowed down to a snail’s pace. In fact, one might be forgiven for wondering precisely how our country’s overpaid MPs and bureaucrats are spending their time ... And how they justify earning as much as so many of them clearly do. With that in mind, we share these images, beginning with one depicting the November/December 2024:

in anticipation of the festive season, 2024/25
in anticipation of the festive season, 2024/25

The images of a post-fire-damaged National Assembly (now under construction) and the dome tent in which National Assembly plenaries have been held since mid-February 2025 are interpretative and far removed from reality. But the point is clear ...

The snail on a gym treadmill depicts parliamentarians and bureaucrats walking backwards for Christmas (inspired by the 1956 Goons song) and slowly forwards to Easter, accomplishing very little in the process.

The images including US President Donald Trump speak for themselves, as does the image of load shedding. More will follow over time (unless the pace improves) ...
